    While seeking the Lord for the name to give the guild, I heard him say, "You are called."  Moving quickly, this was our name for about one month.  But that name just didn't feel right.  Something seemed to be missing.  "Lord, did I hear you correctly," I asked.  "Yes, beloved," He responded.  "But you only heard half of what I said.  Indeed, you are called, but few are chosen" (Matthew 20:16b)

    I pressed for more insight.  "Why is that Lord?" I was awestruck by his response.  "Because when I call them they are not ready," He answered empathetically.  "To answer the call, they must be ready to see through My eyes; hear through My ears; speak My word; and go where I send them."  He concluded by saying, "I have given you the tongue of a ready writer (Psalm 45:1).  Therefore, write that which I have spoken unto you in a book (Jeremiah 30:1-2), and leave an inheritance for your children's children (Proverbs 13:22a)."

    Upon hearing these instructions, in 1997 the guild became known as The Called and Ready Writers.  What began as a small group in my living room has since escalated to over 200 writers.  But there are about 50 who "write write".  They consider their writing a ministry and not a hobby. We invite you to join us!
