OUR
FATHER
By Yvette Wilburn
Why are there so many absentee fathers
In this life and times?
Why isn’t there a sense of family
On these men’s minds?
Don’t they realize that the father
Is supposed to be the head?
Why don’t they consider
Where their children are being led?
Boys want to be men
But mothers can’t do it alone.
For a good father needs to be in his home.
Girls long to be a daddy’s girl.
For they search for this man in the world.
With all these absentee fathers, it’s hard to be strong.
It’s no wonder that things are going wrong!
I should have listened
to what my mother had to say.
She said, “Honey, get a marriage license
before you decide to lay!”
I didn’t listen, “Oh what does she know?”
Well, she must have known something,
because this life of single parenting,
is one tough row to sow.
But there is a heavenly Father
who showers us with love.
He knows us intimately and is gentle as a dove.
Our Father assures us of His protection
and tells us not to fear.
He strengthens and upholds us
For He is always near.
He provides for us when we are in need.
And when we’re hungry, He is sure to feed!
He cares and guides us by our faith.
He is ever present and His power keeps us safe.
God loves us and protects us each and everyone.
*“For God so loved the world, that
He gave His only begotten Son.”
We can boldly go to the Father
without any doubt or shame
and joyfully expect to receive
whatever we ask in Jesus’ name.
Thank You for being Our Father
On whom we can depend.
We thank You our Heavenly Father,
For being our closest friend.
