 Turn The Tide
 By Wanda J. Burnside
 

Lord, turn the tide
that raises up to drown me.
Speak to the sea
with its spiraling staircase
and towering waves.

Speak to the fierce storm
that rages with its whip
that lashes and slashes me.

Speak to the mighty winds
that threaten
to blow down all that is around me,
leaving only destruction in my path.
Don’t let things fall and crash on me
so that I can get crushed.

Speak to the lightening
that flashes and flashes and flashes.
It wants to frighten me,
and electrocute me
to injury and kill me.

Lord say,”Peace!”
Say, “Be still!”
Tell them, “Peace be still,”
And they will.
